Florida limestone

The previous post is a close-up of a limestone rock, very common in this part of Florida. Limestone is the fossilized and calcified remains of sea creatures. As you can see in this photo, it is used decoratively on a golf course. It is used also in home construction.

There's more information on limestone in this article on Florida geology. Please check out the section on the Ocala Uplift.

So they put those limestone boulders on the golf course or were they there when the golf course was made?

The "sea creatures" come to life after dark. :-)

Sorry, Lowell, a long day of shopping makes me a little giddy.

They are superb, Lowell! I love stones and pebbles - actually I always bring pebbles from all my trips:)

Re: your comment on my blog

No new cars, Lowell. I should have chosen a word other than "giddy." I don't enjoy shopping but the upcoming trip to NY forced me to do it.
